Referral code

A referral code is a short, human-typable code tied to an affiliate's campaign. When a user enters it in an app, Attribloom resolves it to the affiliate and mints the appAccountToken, giving a deterministic attribution path when a click cannot be matched.

Where a tracking link is clicked, a referral code is typed. It is the deterministic backstop in the App Store attribution waterfall: after the clipboard handoff and the deferred IP match, a code the user enters still ties the install to the right affiliate.

Resolving a code returns the affiliate's minted appAccountToken and, when the campaign configures one, an optional subscription offer code for the referred user's discount. The code is optional: the clipboard and deferred paths cover most installs without it.

Frequently asked

How is a referral code different from a tracking link?

A tracking link is a URL the prospect clicks; a referral code is a short string the user types in the app. Both resolve to the same affiliate, and the code is a backstop when a click was not captured.

Is a referral code required?

No. It is an optional deterministic backstop. The clipboard handoff and deferred IP match attribute most installs without any code entry.
