Commissions & payouts

How commission is calculated

Commission equals the campaign's percentage rate applied to the developer proceeds — the sale value after the App Store or store takes its cut. For example, a $9.99 App Store sale yields roughly $7.00 in developer proceeds; at a 20% commission rate the affiliate earns $1.40.

Trials and refunds do not earn commission:

  • Free trial conversions do not trigger a commission until a paid period completes.
  • If a purchase is refunded or revoked, the previously credited commission is clawed back.

Maturation hold

After a sale is attributed, the commission enters a hold period to account for the refund window (for example, Apple's App Store refund window). Commission becomes payable only once the hold clears and no refund or revocation has arrived. The hold duration depends on the platform.

How commissions are tracked

Accrued commission is held per affiliate, per currency. Each affiliate's balance reflects only cleared, payable amounts — commission still in the hold period is shown separately as pending.

Payouts

Payouts are sent to affiliates via a payout provider (Tremendous). The payout is made in the campaign's configured payout currency. This is why choosing the right payout currency at campaign creation matters: if your sales settle in USD but the campaign is set to GBP, balances and payouts will not align.

You initiate a payout from the Payouts section once an affiliate's cleared balance is ready. Attribloom passes the payout instruction to Tremendous, which handles delivery and any required tax documentation.
