Apple settles tax and final proceeds in its monthly finance report, so treat the proceeds line as Apple's provisional split of the customer price, not a tax-inclusive figure.
Questions
- Why is the commission based on proceeds and not the sticker price?
- Apple takes its cut before you are paid. Paying an affiliate a percentage of the customer price can pay out more than you actually received, especially in the first year when Apple takes 30 percent. Attribloom accrues on developer proceeds by default.
- When does Apple take 15 percent instead of 30 percent?
- Two cases. If you are in the App Store Small Business Program, it is 15 percent from the start. Otherwise a subscriber who has been paying for more than one year moves to 15 percent for subsequent renewals.
- What happens on a refund?
- Apple sends a REFUND notification and the commission is reversed. Attribloom writes a clawback entry against the affiliate's pending balance rather than deleting history, so the ledger still sums correctly.
- Is this the exact arithmetic Attribloom uses?
- Yes. Apple's cut truncates, then the affiliate rate is applied with round-half-even (banker's rounding) on integer minor units. This page runs the same two steps in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
